Monroe County Apostille Services
Need a Florida Keys document prepared for use overseas? Contact Miami Dade Apostille for review and coordinated processing. We assist clients in Key Colony Beach, Key West, Layton and Marathon. Send required originals or certified copies to our team only after confirmed format and delivery instructions.
Begin with a review of your Florida Keys document
Contact Miami Dade Apostille with clear copies, the destination and the receiving institution's instructions. A Monroe marriage record, court order, birth certificate or College of the Florida Keys transcript can require different preparation. We review the document and coordinate the appropriate authority route. Send required originals or certified copies to our team only after we confirm the format and delivery instructions.
Record issuance and apostille processing are separate stages
Obtaining a certified record does not automatically complete the process for international use. Any required notarization or certification, authority processing, translation and return delivery have their own requirements. An apostille authenticates an official signature or seal, not every statement in the document or acceptance for every purpose. Our team coordinates the agreed services while you confirm the overseas recipient's requirements.
Processing time and eligible same-day service
Standard state processing can take months. Miami Dade Apostille offers processing as soon as the same day for eligible documents. Contact us to confirm availability. Underlying record issuance, corrections, preparation, translation and shipping have separate schedules. Federal processing and further legalization may require additional time. Contact our team about your complete deadline before sending documents; eligible same-day processing does not mean every stage is completed the same day.
Key West vital-record office and certificate counter hours
Monroe's current certificate pages direct requests to the Gato Building at 1100 Simonton Street, Key West, FL 33040. The birth-certificate office number is 305-676-3840; general department assistance is 305-293-7500. Certificate guidance lists Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., distinct from the building's general 8 a.m.–5 p.m. schedule. Confirm the current counter location, hours and availability before traveling, especially after severe weather or temporary office changes.
Confirm pickup before making an office trip
Ask the vital-record staff whether your eligible certificate can be issued during your visit and whether same-day pickup is available. The county's current guidance does not guarantee it for every request. Older entries, sealed records, corrections and access restrictions can change the arrangements. A local certificate pickup is separate from the apostille service Miami Dade Apostille coordinates.
Birth certificates: years, eligibility and sealed records
The county overview lists Florida births from 1930 onward. Its detailed birth guidance directs pre-1930 and sealed records to the state Bureau of Vital Statistics. Confirm the exact record year and requester eligibility, and bring valid photo identification. Births outside Florida belong to their issuing jurisdiction. Send our team the recipient's instructions before ordering a replacement for international use.
Death certificates and cause-of-death access
Monroe's local guidance lists Florida deaths from 2009 onward, with earlier records handled through the state vital-record office or VitalChek. Cause-of-death information is restricted to eligible requesters. Confirm the version required by the overseas institution and the identification the office needs. Our team reviews copies and destination instructions before you deliver the required certified record to us.
Tax Collector birth certificates: verify service before visiting
The Tax Collector identifies birth-certificate service at its Key West and Key Largo offices, but its website currently displays a temporary outage notice saying it cannot issue birth certificates. Call first to confirm whether service has resumed. The current locations directory lists Key West at 1200 Truman Avenue, Suite 101, Key West, FL 33040, phone 305-295-5000, and Key Largo at 101487 Overseas Highway, Key Largo, FL 33037, phone 305-853-3562. Do not rely on an older Searstown office listing or assume other Tax Collector branches provide this service.
VitalChek for online vital-record orders
VitalChek is the authorized third-party online ordering service identified by Florida's health department. It can be useful when an eligible certificate is needed without an office visit. Certificate ordering and delivery charges are separate from apostille services, and an online order does not automatically include an apostille. Contact Miami Dade Apostille first to review the document format and how delivery fits the full schedule.
Order vital records online through VitalChek ↗Choose the correct Key West Clerk counter
The Clerk's general and family-record location is 500 Whitehead Street, Key West, FL 33040; phone 305-292-3458. The marriage-service page separately identifies 530 Whitehead Street, the Lester Building at Whitehead and Southard, for its Key West marriage office. Call to confirm which counter handles an existing certified-copy request. These two Clerk addresses are separate from the Gato Building vital-record office at 1100 Simonton Street.
Clerk branches in Marathon and Plantation Key
The Marathon Clerk office is at 3117 Overseas Highway, Marathon, FL 33050, phone 305-289-6027. The Plantation Key office is at 88770 Overseas Highway, Suite 2, Tavernier, FL 33070, phone 305-852-7145. The Clerk publishes weekday hours of 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Confirm the correct division, record availability and pickup arrangements before visiting. Your apostille service documents go to Miami Dade Apostille after our team confirms delivery instructions.
Marriage records must be returned and recorded first
The Clerk explains that the completed marriage license must be returned after the ceremony for recording. A certified copy is then mailed to the newlyweds. If you need another copy, an older record or a particular format for overseas use, contact the Clerk before traveling. An application or an unrecorded license is not the same as the completed certified marriage record. Share the names, marriage date and available reference so staff can identify the record.
Divorce judgments, probate and other court records
For a certified divorce judgment, family order, probate order or other case document, contact the appropriate Clerk division with the case number and document description. The contact directory lists Civil and Probate at 305-292-3458, Official and Civil public records at 305-292-3507, and criminal-record assistance at 305-295-3950. Access restrictions can apply. Send our team the recipient's instructions so we can review which record and preparation are requested.
A search result is not automatically a certified document
Online court and Official Records searches can help identify the correct case or instrument. An ordinary downloaded image or printed search result is not automatically a custodian-certified copy. Ask the Clerk about the available certified format, and let Miami Dade Apostille review the recipient's requirements before you order or alter a file. Do not assume an electronic or printed version is accepted for every authority process or overseas purpose.
College of the Florida Keys transcripts and campus contact
For CFK transcript assistance, contact Admissions at 5901 College Road, Key West, FL 33040, phone 305-809-3188, or [email protected]. The college uses the National Student Clearinghouse for official transcript ordering and provides a separate FASTER route for eligible Florida public institutions. Confirm current pickup or delivery options with staff before making a campus trip. A campus visit does not guarantee immediate issuance.
Prepare the academic record for the receiving institution
CFK distinguishes official transcripts bearing the institution's seal and Registrar's signature from unofficial personal records. Check that grades or awards are posted and resolve outstanding obligations before ordering. Contact Miami Dade Apostille with the destination instructions first so we can review the format and any certification or notarization needed for international use. College ordering, apostille processing and delivery remain separate stages.
Notarized documents and Remote Online Notarization
Contact our team before signing a power of attorney, affidavit, sworn statement or other document that may need notarization or witnesses. Florida notarized documents need a complete English notarial certificate. Remote Online Notarization is available for eligible documents, subject to identity checks and recipient requirements. A notarized photocopy does not replace a public record certified by its proper custodian. We review the preparation before you send required documents to us.
Business records, other-state documents and federal records
State-issued business records and privately signed business documents can need different preparation. A document issued in another state follows that state's authority process. FBI Identity History Summaries follow the federal route through the U.S. Department of State. Your Monroe County residence does not change the issuing authority. Miami Dade Apostille coordinates the appropriate submission and any further legalization needed for the destination.
