Flagler County Apostille Services
Miami Dade Apostille helps clients in Bunnell, Flagler Beach and Palm Coast prepare documents for use abroad. We review preparation, coordinate the appropriate Florida or federal authentication submission and arrange return. Share the issuing office, destination and receiving authority's instructions first, especially when an older family record or complete court judgment is required.
Start with the issuing authority and destination
- An apostille authenticates an official signature or seal; it does not verify the contents or guarantee that a foreign recipient will accept a document for every purpose.
- Confirm the exact record, required language and document age with the receiving authority.
- Where the Apostille Convention applies with the United States, use the appropriate apostille route.
- Other destinations may require authentication and additional legalization.
- A Florida document, an out-of-state record and a federal background check may need different offices even when their owner lives in Flagler County.
Florida birth, death and marriage records
- The Florida Department of State accepts qualifying birth and death certificates bearing the State Registrar's signature from the Bureau of Vital Statistics or county health department.
- Marriage and dissolution certificates may come from the Bureau or the appropriate court clerk.
- A notary-certified photocopy cannot replace a properly certified public record.
- If the recipient asks for a divorce decree, check whether it needs the complete court judgment rather than a vital-record certificate summarizing the event.
Bunnell Vital Statistics: street address and mailing box
- DOH-Flagler's current Vital Statistics location page lists 200 Dr. Carter Boulevard, Bunnell, FL 32110 for visits and P.O. Box 847, Bunnell, FL 32110 for mail.
- The phone is 386-586-2164; certificate pages list extension 7133.
- Confirm the certificate counter and mailing instructions before traveling or sending an application.
- The Health Department and the Clerk's Justice Center are separate offices, with different addresses and responsibilities.
- Use Vital Statistics for the appropriate birth or death certificate, then arrange the separate authentication step.
Check the last-order cutoff before a late-afternoon visit
- The birth application currently linked by DOH-Flagler lists service hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with the last order at 4 p.m.
- The general location page shows a later closing time, so confirm the certificate cutoff before relying on building hours.
- The application requires valid photo identification and a copy of that identification for mail requests.
- Guardians should include the appointment order; someone requesting a certificate on another person's behalf may need the appropriate release affidavit and supporting identification.
- Confirm eligibility before arranging collection.
Requesting the birth record of a deceased family member
- The county explains that, after receipt of the registrant's death certificate, a birth record may be issued to certain additional relatives, including an adult spouse, child, grandchild or sibling, or an eligible legal representative.
- Confirm your relationship, identification and required proof with Vital Statistics before ordering.
- This can matter when assembling a family-document package for use abroad.
- It does not mean every relative can obtain every record without documentation, or that an apostille changes the rules for accessing the underlying record.
Death certificates: choose the required version
- DOH-Flagler offers Florida death certificates from 2009 onward, including walk-in and mail requests.
- Certificates without cause-of-death information follow different access rules from those containing that information.
- Cause-of-death details are restricted for 50 years, subject to the applicable eligibility and documentation rules.
- Confirm which version the foreign recipient requires and what you are eligible to obtain.
- For an earlier record, use the Bureau of Vital Statistics ordering guidance rather than assuming the county counter holds it.
The Clerk's Justice Center address serves visits and mail
- The Clerk's address is Kim C. Hammond Justice Center, 1769 E. Moody Boulevard, Building 1, Bunnell, FL 32110.
- Use that mailing address with the appropriate department confirmed in advance.
- Official Records and marriage inquiries use 386-313-4360; Family Law uses 386-313-4491, Probate 386-313-4497 and the Courts Manager 386-313-4378.
- General and public-record requests use 386-313-4400.
- The Clerk provides an email contact form on its website.
- Match the request to the record's department before sending payment or originals.
Recorded instruments: ask for a certified copy explicitly
- Official Records provides copies in person or by written request.
- Recording is on the first floor of the Justice Center and lists Monday through Friday hours of 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
- Identify the recorded document, such as a judgment, deed, declaration of domicile or recorded power of attorney, and specify that certification is required.
- Confirm fees and delivery before sending a written request.
- The Recording office states that it notarizes only Notices of Commencement; do not assume it offers general notarization for a private affidavit or power of attorney.
Closed court files and historical records dating to 1917
- Records Management maintains closed civil, criminal, probate, traffic and other court files.
- Its first-floor office also holds historical governmental records dating to 1917, including marriage, probate and court records.
- Staff can search on request, and copies and certifications are available.
- Contact the office with names, dates and case or recording details to establish what can be retrieved.
- Collection dates do not guarantee that every record is digitized or unrestricted.
- For a current court case, contact the relevant court department about the exact certified order needed.
Marriage copies come from the completed, recorded license
- Flagler marriage licenses are filed in Official Records.
- After the ceremony, the completed license must be returned to Recording at the Justice Center.
- The Clerk says one complimentary certified copy is included with the license fee, and additional certified copies are available.
- Confirm that the record is filed and ask about delivery or replacement copies without assuming an automatic mailing date.
- For overseas proof of marriage, distinguish the completed record from the application or an unexecuted license, and confirm the format required by the receiving authority.
Copying, certification and apostille are separate services
- The Clerk's fee schedule distinguishes ordinary copying from certification of a document.
- A downloaded image or printed search result should not be treated as a certified copy merely because it came from an official search website.
- Ask the Clerk which certified format it can provide, then confirm that format for the state authentication submission and foreign recipient.
- If an electronic option is offered for your document, preserve the original file and confirm whether a paper certified copy is needed.
Private documents, school transcripts and business records
- Florida public-school or university transcripts need a registrar or issuing official's signature and notarization with a full notarial statement under state guidance.
- For affidavits, powers of attorney and other private documents, confirm the required signing and notarial certificate before execution.
- Florida business filings need an original state-issued certified copy or certificate of status rather than a simple online printout.
- Each item should be reviewed individually so that the certification fits the document being submitted.
Notarization and apostille are different steps
- Notarization prepares an eligible private document; it does not produce an apostille.
- We can discuss remote online notarization after checking identity, witnesses, document suitability and recipient requirements.
- It does not replace official certification of a public record.
- Confirm preparation before signing or sending originals.
FBI reports follow the federal route
- An FBI background check is a federal record and goes through the U.S. Department of State authentication process, not a Florida state apostille submission.
- A local court record is not the same document as an FBI report.
- If your overseas application asks for several records, share the complete list so we can coordinate state and federal submissions separately and help avoid sending the entire package to the wrong authority.
