When a minor travels with a non-parent adult

When a minor travels internationally with a chaperone, manager, talent agent, or other non-parent adult, both parents must provide notarized and apostilled consent letters. Immigration officers in Hague Convention countries require these documents to verify that the minor's travel is authorized and that the accompanying adult has legal authority to act on the parents' behalf.

Chaperone and manager authorization letters

In addition to the parental consent letter, many countries and organizations require a separate notarized authorization letter specifically naming the chaperone or manager and describing the scope of their authority. We apostille both the consent letter and the authorization letter for use in all Hague Convention countries.

Medical authorization for the chaperone

Parents should provide the chaperone or manager with a notarized medical authorization letter allowing them to consent to emergency medical treatment on behalf of the minor. This letter should be apostilled for use in Hague Convention countries.

Custody and court order considerations

If the minor's parents are divorced or separated, the traveling parent or chaperone may need to present an apostilled custody agreement or court order authorizing international travel. We apostille Florida court orders and custody agreements in 1–3 business days.
