FBI APOSTILLE SERVICES & FEDERAL DOCUMENT AUTHENTICATION
FBI Background Checks, United States Department of State Apostilles & Federal Document Processing
Miami Dade Apostille assists clients with FBI apostille services, FBI background check processing guidance, federal apostille coordination through the United States Department of State in Washington DC, certified translation coordination, and international document legalization support.
Federal apostille services are commonly required for immigration, residency applications, digital nomad visas, dual citizenship, international employment, work permits, adoption matters, international business transactions, and overseas legal proceedings.
Our office assists individuals located throughout the United States and Americans living abroad who need FBI background checks and federal apostille services for international use.
WHAT IS AN FBI APOSTILLE?
An FBI apostille is an official authentication issued by the United States Department of State that certifies the authenticity of an FBI Identity History Summary for use in foreign countries that participate in the Hague Apostille Convention.
Without a federal apostille, many foreign governments, immigration offices, employers, and international institutions may not recognize an FBI background check issued in the United States.
COMMON REASONS CLIENTS NEED AN FBI APOSTILLE
FBI background checks with apostille certification are frequently required for:
• Spain digital nomad visas
• Portugal residency applications
• Mexico temporary or permanent residency
• Venezuela immigration and legal matters
• Dual citizenship applications
• International employment
• Work permits abroad
• International teaching positions
• Immigration and residency applications
• Adoption and family law matters
• International licensing and credentialing
Countries such as Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Italy, Brazil, and many others commonly require apostilled FBI background checks as part of immigration or residency applications.
FBI BACKGROUND CHECK PROCESS
Step 1 – Obtain the FBI Background Check
Applicants may obtain an FBI Identity History Summary through:
• The FBI directly
• An FBI-approved channeler
• Electronic FBI processing providers
Applicants outside the United States commonly complete fingerprints using FD-258 fingerprint cards at local police stations, biometric providers, or authorized fingerprinting facilities abroad.
Step 2 – Federal Apostille Processing
The FBI background check must be submitted to the United States Department of State in Washington DC for federal apostille certification.
Federal apostille processing differs from state apostille processing and must be completed through the federal authentication office.
Step 3 – International Use
Once apostilled, the FBI background check may be used in Hague Convention countries for immigration, residency, employment, legal, and international administrative purposes.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING FEDERAL APOSTILLE PROCESSING
Federal apostille processing through the United States Department of State is subject to federal procedures, submission limitations, processing queues, mailing timelines, and government turnaround times.
Processing times may vary depending on workload, federal holidays, shipping methods, and Department of State operations.
Clients should always verify the document requirements, translation requirements, expiration rules, and submission deadlines of the receiving country or immigration authority before submitting documents internationally.
CERTIFIED TRANSLATION SERVICES
Many countries require certified translations together with apostilled FBI background checks.
We coordinate certified translations in:
• Spanish
• Portuguese
• Italian
• French
• German
• Arabic
• Russian
• Chinese
Translation requirements vary by country and immigration authority.
HAGUE APOSTILLE VS EMBASSY LEGALIZATION
Countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention generally require an apostille.
Countries that are not members of the Hague Convention may require embassy or consular legalization instead of an apostille.
We also assist with legalization guidance for countries including:
• United Arab Emirates (UAE)
• Qatar
• Kuwait
• Vietnam
• China
• Egypt
• Lebanon
RELATED FEDERAL DOCUMENT SERVICES
In addition to FBI apostille services, clients commonly request apostille or legalization assistance for:
• Diplomas and academic transcripts
• Driver’s licenses
• Professional licenses and certifications
• Birth certificates
• Marriage certificates
• Corporate documents
• Powers of attorney
• IRS documents
• Naturalization certificates
